Hurricane "Maria", raging on the Caribbean islands, received the fifth, highest category of capacity. In the case of "Mary" it is a natural disaster that could potentially bring "catastrophic consequences", said on Tuesday, September 19, at the National Hurricane Center of the United States (NHC). The speed of the hurricane reaches 257 kilometers per hour and may further increase.
On the night of September 19, the disaster, according to the NHC, reached the shores of the island of Dominica. On the island, where about 72 thousand people live, a storm warning.
The authorities of the Guadeloupe, located to the north-west of Dominica, announced the evacuation of the population in connection with the danger of floods and earthquakes. On another island, Martinique, local residents are advised not to leave their homes.
Earlier in the same region was a hurricane "Irma", subsequently affecting the American Florida. "Irma" brought considerable destruction. As a result of the hurricane, more than 80 people were killed, more than half of them in the Caribbean.
