As RIA Novosti reported later, referring to the Khartoum police spokesman Colonel Hasan al-Tijani, the death of Mirgayas Shirinsky in the pool, his body was found by the embassy staff, they called the police.

While there is no exact information on the reasons for the death of the diplomat, Sudanese criminalists exclude crime and say that he died for natural reasons.

The second secretary of the Russian embassy in the Sudan, Sergei Konyashin told RIA Novosti that it looks like Shirinsky had problems with his heart - he suffered a severe heart attack or a stroke. Nevertheless, forensic experts took water samples from the pool in which the diplomat died and already reported that there are no poisonous substances and the version of the intentional murder is not considered. A source in the police earlier told the Reuters agency that the Russian diplomat allegedly had health problems - the pressure he often jumped.

Sergei Konyashin said that the body of the deceased ambassador was sent to the morgue at the academic hospital of Khartoum. Later, the issue of his transfer to his homeland will be decided. The second secretary of the Russian embassy in Khartoum also told REN-TV that "there are already words of condolence from many representatives of the diplomatic corps with whom he was well acquainted, who knew him well".
