In Georgia, the third day can not extinguish a fire in the Borjomi Gorge

Despite the fact that three helicopters are involved in the process, about 400 firefighters, more than 100 forest rangers, 500 employees of the Department for Special Assignments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as dozens of heavy equipment that have been mobilized from different regions of the country, the fire can not be extinguished. As reported on Tuesday, August 22, the representative of the emergency headquarters for the elimination of the fire, in the disaster zone remain the Prime Minister of Georgia Georgy Kvirikashvili and all the members of the staff, as well as the heads of the relevant services and departments.

Localization of fire at this stage is complicated by meteorological conditions - wind is increasing and high air temperature is fixed, which contributes to the appearance of new fires, - explained at the headquarters, adding that the ambulance crews work in the field, but no one needed help yet.



The headquarters also assured that the fire does not threaten the gas pipeline Borzhomi-Bakuriani, which is located four kilometers from the fire zone.

Meanwhile, to help the Georgian rescuers, the third day fighting fire with the Borjomi gorge, their Armenian colleagues.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the fire area in the Borzhomi gorge has already exceeded 12 hectares. The fight against fire now goes mainly in three critical zones to prevent its spread in the direction of Borjomi and Bakuriani, as well as the settlement of Tsagery and the village of Daba.
