In Lutsk, the mass grave of the victims of the Soviet regime was unearthed. People were shot in 1941, as NKVD officers considered them "anti-Soviet elements".

The remains of 107 bodies were found in the burial. Their exhumation was carried out by the municipal enterprise of the Lviv regional council on the search for burials of the participants in the national liberation struggle and victims of wars, deportations and political repressions. "Share".

"We managed to establish that this is really a burial in a funnel from an air bomb that 107 people are buried in this grave, they are very tightly packed, without any system. In some remains in the skull - bullet holes, signs of death from gunshot wounds on the bones, a large number of shells from the rifle of the Mosin system, the Degtyarev machine gun and the revolver of the Nagan system were found in the ground above the grave, - said the historian and local historian Sergei Godlevsky.



According to him, the remains are kept in the monastery and employees of the Volyn Bureau of forensic experts will conduct an examination to confirm the causes of death of the deceased.

The excavations were also attended by Volyn historians and local historians together with Lutsk archaeologists Yuri Mazurik and Viktor Bayuk.

As previously reported, the historian and director of the National Museum-Memorial "Tyur at Lontsky" in Lviv, Ruslan Zabily told how the Soviet special services on June 23, 1941 staged mass repressions in western Ukraine.
