Survival work continues at the Mir diamond mine in Yakutia. There, at 16:30 local time, water from a spent quarry broke through the ALROSA mine. About 200 thousand cubic meters of water fell into the mine. This became possible after flooding with groundwater from one of the pumping stations.
At the moment of emergency in the mine there were about 150 people. Communication with miners was organized, power supply and work of lifts restored. Two lifts were raised to the surface of the 133 miners, but there are no links with 17 more miners. Rescuers, surgeons, resuscitators, psychologists arrived at the place. Evacuated miners refused hospitalization. According to preliminary data, no victims. Two miners with light injuries were brought to the Mirny hospital, their condition was assessed as stable.
An operational headquarters was established. The elimination of the consequences of the accident at the mine is handled by 100 people and 6 pieces of equipment. The head of Yakutia Yegor Borisov flew to Mirny, the head of Rostekhnadzor Alexei Aleshin and the head of the company Sergey Ivanov.
President Vladimir Putin instructed the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov personally to lead the commission to eliminate the consequences of the accident at the mine. Also in Mirny for underwater work is sent a group of five divers with special equipment. The prosecutor's office started the audit.
Currently, the water in the face collapsed, there are no flooded areas. Rescuers inspect the submerged mine.
Another 30 rescuers are preparing to fly to Mirny from Kuzbass.
