On Sunday, July 16, US servicemen Matthew Odom, Nelson Dees, Vincent Hamerichaus, Kellar Jackson, Aaron Moore and Kevin Polk were in Lviv on an excursion.

In the city center near the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska they saw a thick smoke over one of the houses and immediately rushed to the burning building. Servicemen promptly warned of the danger of the tenants and led them out of the smoke-filled premises.

"The servicemen remember that when they came to the place of the accident, there were no rescuers. Second floor burned. Smoke from the fire complicated breathing. They immediately began to knock on all the doors to attract the attention of residents. The language barrier added labor. However, people quickly realized that they were in danger. Before the arrival of rescuers, the Americans managed to evacuate the third floor. The Oklahoma National Guard acted confidently, because among them there was a volunteer-fireman Nelson Dees from the city of Krauder in the district of Pittsburgh. He clearly knew that they need to move quickly and save people from the fire, "the message says..

The press officer of the 45th Brigade Combat Team of the National Guard of the United States, Captain Keila Christopher, has already stated that the US National Security Service has been informed of this act by US servicemen.
