Today detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural leadership of SAP prosecutors detained a number of officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Enterprise "Lviv Armored Factory" on suspicion of committing a crime by h. 5 items. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Assignment, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position"). Also detained the founder of the commercial structure.

During the pre-trial investigation, the detectives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine established that the officers of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in collusion with officials of the State Enterprise "Lviv Armored Factory", the founder of the LLC and with the participation of firms with signs of fictitiousness, developed and implemented a corruption scheme for the purchase of spare parts and components for Armored vehicles and equipment, than committed embezzlement of budgetary funds in 2015 to the amount of 28.5 million. UAH.

The essence of the scheme was that instead of new engines for the T-72 tanks, in fact, engines were purchased that were previously in use. In addition, these formerly used, and sometimes non-working, engines were once sold - in 2008-2009 they were sold to enterprises on the domestic market as surplus property of the Defense Ministry. In addition, the release of this engine model has been discontinued since the 1990s, which the initiators of the scheme were well aware of.

Now five people are detained:

the head of the Central Military Training Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Armament of the Armed Forces (Major-General), the Head of the Department of the Central Military Technical University. The Armament of the Armed Forces (Colonel), Director and Deputy Director of the State Enterprise "Lviv Armored Factory", also the founder of the LLC involved in the scheme.
