A man who shot a journalist in Krivoy Rog during military exercises, participated in the exercises as a volunteer. This was stated at a press conference by the press officer of the operational command "East" Eugene Romanov, the local newspaper transmits the First City.

In particular, Romanov said that the instructor Igor Petrenko was involved in the exercises on a voluntary basis. He allegedly had a certificate of certain combat and tactical skills. But where exactly did the suspect acquire them, did he take part in military service, did he take part in hostilities, the press officer could not answer.

Also Romanov did not name the people who invited Petrenko to the exercises of the APU.

According to the representative of the Armed Forces, the suspect had a Glock gun, for which he did not have permission.



At a press conference it also became known that Petrenko is one of the founders of the public organization Kozatska Varta Krivorizhzhya, which appeared in March 2017.

On July 6 in Krivoy Rog, during the military exercises, the operator of the information portal First Krivorozhsky Vyacheslav Volka was wounded. The incident occurred during the filming of the production frame.

Data on the event are included in the Single Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 128 (Uncaused Serious or Moderate Severe Bodily Injury) of the Criminal Code.
