On May 16, a gas explosion occurred in an apartment building along University Avenue in Volgograd. The house is a four-story building in 1958, it was inhabited by about a hundred people. On the spot, there were 10 ambulance brigades and one - disaster medicine.
In the pavilion attached to the house, works were carried out with the use of welding. During the attempted unauthorized tie-in, a gas pipeline was damaged in the water supply network. Residents at home, sensing the smell of gas, caused a corresponding service, but the explosion occurred before the arrival of specialists. During the analysis of the rubble, five dead were found, another fourteen were injured. All the victims were taken to medical institutions. They are assisted. Disassembly of rubble was not only in the daytime, but at night. On the spot there were 56 rescuers and 16 units of equipment. The crash site was illuminated by a light tower and car lights. The work on the disassembly of obstructions was complicated by overhanging parts of the structures, which already posed a danger for rescuers.
Tenants from the destroyed house were placed in the school # 106 nearest to the state of emergency, there is a temporary placement center for 50 places. With people working physicians and psychologists.
On Monday, the owner of the pavilion was arrested, in which the work was carried out, his father and employee hired by the announcement. As it turned out, work permits were not issued for the works.. The UK initiated a criminal investigation into the explosion. Investigators are investigating. Interviewed residents of the house, injured in hospitals and alleged culprits of collapse.
