The internal computer system of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the ministry's offices in several regions of the country, was hit by a cryptographic virus. On Friday it also became known that similar problems with computers are fixed in the network of the company "Megafon". Also in the media leaked information about the hacker attack on the site and the computer system of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Officially, the Interior Ministry denied the fact of the attack, RIA "Novosti".

Earlier on Friday, an attack was reported on the virus-encryptor on the system of the National Health Service of Great Britain, as a result of hospital computers and telephones of medical institutions were blocked until a ransom of $ 300 for the restoration of work. Also reported on the hacker attack of the Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica and some other organizations in this country.

According to the company Avast, which develops an antivirus decryption tool, currently infected about 36 thousand computers - in Russia, Ukraine and Taiwan.

As the founder and head of information security specialist Group-IB Ilya Sachkov told RNS, a sample of the virus has already been obtained and the company conducts its research.

This type of virus encrypts files and disk on computers, after which attackers demand a ransom for recovering data access. Usually the infection occurs by e-mail, and the antivirus software does not see and does not detect the infected messages, Sachkov explained.. In his opinion, this type of virus does not carry any threat of information leakage and other dangers for the MIA system and critical systems..

Attackers often use this easy way to monetize for enrichment. This type of attack does not imply any political or other external conflict, the expert believes..
