Arrested the former president of El Salvador Saka on charges of money laundering

Former President of El Salvador, Elias Antonio Saca Gonzalez was arrested on charges of money laundering and embezzlement of millions of dollars of public funds.

As announced, the General Prosecutor's Office also arrested six former officials of his government.

51-year-old Antonio Saca, in the past, well-known journalist, served as President of El Salvador from 2004 to 2009.

In January this year, another former president, Mauricio Funes, was charged with corruption.

Another former Salvadoran President Francisco Flores, who led the country from 1999 to 2004, died a week before the start of his trial on charges of misappropriation of grants allocated by the government of Taiwan to El Salvador. It is reported by BBC.
