Hurricane "Maria", formed in the Atlantic Ocean, hit the territory of Puerto Rico. The element rages 55 kilometers from the capital of Puerto Rico San Juan and moves with a speed of 17 km / h in the north-west direction.

"Mary" is the third powerful hurricane recently after the devastating "Harvey" and "Irma" that raged in the Caribbean region and then hit the US.

The hurricane season usually lasts in the Atlantic half a year - from June 1 to November 30. The atmospheric phenomenon is classified as a storm and gets its own name if the wind speed in its epicenter reaches 17.4 m / s. At a wind speed of 33 m / s and more the storm becomes a hurricane.

Hurricane "Maria", intensified on the eve to the maximum power category, hit the territory of Puerto Rico. According to the US National Center for Hurricane Tracking, it hit the territory of the municipality of Yabucoa.

The maximum wind speed is 250 km / h.
