An American president (any American president) has two serious potential levers of influence on Russia without participating in a war. The first lever is total sanctions against the Russian economy, primarily against its oil, gas, maritime and financial sectors. The second lever is military (primarily) and financial assistance to Ukraine. The United States has no other levers of real influence on Russia in order to achieve the speedy depletion of its resources and lead it to the impossibility of continuing the war.. Trump does not want to use these levers.

From his “wonderful” (in his words) conversations with Putin and his repeated statements that Putin wants peace, the war will not end and will not stop.

In fact, the number of foreign tourists visiting has fallen, and even the World Cup did not help. First of all, the number of Canadians coming to the United States has dropped significantly, and Canadians have been coming to the neighboring country in the largest numbers for decades.

What was missing from his speech was inspiration and emotion.. Either he is tired, or his emotions are determined by the tension before the elections due to the fact that he is currently facing defeat in the elections. Although he stated from the UN rostrum that he was not participating in the elections and did not seem to care about the elections.

Trump looked weak and completely unconvincing. He looked like a politician who had nothing to show the world except demagoguery, which made his weakness even more clearly emphasized.

It remains a mystery why he needs all this? Does he hope to look macho in the eyes of his admirers Perhaps, but in their eyes he looks like a macho man, an idol, an all-powerful overlord in any case. Those 32% who support him will continue to support him no matter what.

Does he really believe that he is omnipotent and can do anything It’s also possible, but every time such faith is shattered when faced with the laws at home or the blockade of the Straits of Hormuz and Bab-Elmandeb outside the home.

There's another aspect to this story. Solidarity. Namely, the solidarity of journalists with each other and the solidarity of competing media with each other. National television channels that have a common pool for showing events from the White House (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, CNN) will not broadcast from all the television shows that the president loves to organize either in the Oval Office, or on the presidential plane, or at the White House. They won’t out of solidarity with their colleagues from CNN.. Or they will only show video without sound. National Public Radio NPR announced it will not broadcast audio from the same events.. White House photojournalists announced that they would publish a very limited number of their photographs and with a long delay - only at the very end of the day.

Solidarity is a wonderful thing. And ideological differences between the media, different editorial policies cannot interfere with this solidarity. Because both media executives and journalists themselves understand that the power of the 47th president is not eternal. More presidents will appear in the White House. And freedom of speech must remain freedom of speech. Completely regardless of who occupies the Oval Office. Journalists should be completely free to report what they see as they and their editors see fit.. Only their readers and viewers can indicate them - by subscribing or vice versa, by unsubscribing. The fact that they watch or, on the contrary, do not watch certain TV channels. But the president, even who considers himself omnipotent, has absolutely no right to limit them in any way.

Trump will lose in court. This is a story in which he wanted to look like an all-powerful macho, but waving his fists, writing abusive tweets, uttering public insults is not a show of strength. This is a show of weakness.

But he will definitely get involved in new similar stories. Again and again.
