The German Football Association continues active negotiations with Per Mertesacker to appoint a senior sports director. This is reported by Sky Sport Germany.

According to Dzherel, the 40-year-old ex-executive may replace Andreas Rettig, who will lose his position in the face of ongoing doom. It appears that Mertesacker is ready to accept the DFB position and work with Jurgen Klopp, who will become the head coach of the German national team.

Mertesacker is world champion 2014 at the warehouse of Germany, having played 104 matches. On the club level he played for Hannover, Werder Bremen and London Arsenal.
