Ukrainian singer MONATIK (Dmitry Monatik) lifted the curtain on what happens behind the scenes of his concerts. The artist demonstrated this in his dressing room at the Atlas Festival.. He admitted what he eats before going on stage, spoke about the constant ritual with prayer, and also remembered that his team used to get ready for a performance with the help of obscene chants.
The artist showed the behind-the-scenes part of the concert in an episode of radio host Slava Demin. He looked into Monatic's dressing room, where perhaps the main attribute were Kinder chocolate eggs, which became an integral part of the singer's rider.
In particular, contrary to the widespread stereotype that artists do not eat before performances, MONATIK assured: if he feels very hungry, he still allows himself a light snack. “I don’t eat, but it happens that if I’m already really hungry, I can make myself some kind of sandwich. Small, just for energy. Or a piece of chocolate,” the singer said.
According to the performer, chocolate helps to quickly replenish energy, and to avoid discomfort while singing, just drink it with water. No less interesting was the long-standing tradition of the MONATIK team before going on stage. The artist said that regardless of the size of the concert, everyone gets together and prays. " Everyone - to whom they pray. Ask for what we need. This tradition has not changed since the very beginning, since we started touring,” he added.
After the prayer, the team shouts a special chant. Now this is the phrase “Eternally dancing people,” but earlier, as the singer admitted, the ritual was much more emotional. " Have grown up. I had to say three times: “F*cker,” said Monatic.
