FIFA has decided not to change the time of the matches in the 1/8 finals of the World Cup 2026 between the teams of England and Mexico, as well as Brazil and Norway. The Athletic reports this.
Previously, tournament organizers had considered the possibility of moving the start whistle for the England-Mexico clash six years earlier due to forecast unfavorable weather conditions in Mexico City. However, after consultation, the decision was praised to leave the team at the Azteca stadium without changes. The match will start on June 6 at 03:00 Kyiv time.
Without changes, the match between Brazil and Norway will be lost, as there will be 5 minutes at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. This fight was also seen as a candidate for rescheduling due to weather conditions, but the starting hour was made unchanged - 23:00 according to the Kiev hour.
According to Gerela, the Mexican Football Federation and the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that negotiations on a possible adjustment of the calendar were being carried out effectively. FIFA has decided not to make changes until the matches are scheduled.
