Three largest railway stations in Ukraine are preparing to be transferred to concession

Ukraine plans to transfer into concession the country's three largest railway stations: the Central Station in Kyiv, as well as stations in Lviv and Odessa. This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development with reference to the speech of the head of the department, Alexei Kuleba, at the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in Gdansk.

According to the report, the list of public-private partnership projects in the field of infrastructure currently includes more than 30 objects with a total value of about $5 billion. At the conference, the ministry presented 15 priority projects that are planned to be launched in 2026, including, in particular:.

concession of the ferry terminal of the seaport of Chernomorsk;

concession of the second terminal of the seaport of Chernomorsk;

Northern bypass road of Lviv;

border road corridor M-09 / M-10 / M-11;

modernization of the transport corridor Yagodin – Kovel – Lutsk (roads M-07 / M-19);

reconstruction of the M-15 transport corridor Odessa – Reni;

construction of 10 service zones on international roads;

concession of the intermodal hub \;

concession of the Kyiv Central Railway Station complex;

concession of the Lviv railway station complex;

concession of the Odessa railway station complex;

reconstruction and technical modernization of the Kaydatskaya pumping and filtering station (g. Dnieper);

construction of a new line of wastewater treatment facilities in the city of Uzhgorod;

reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in the city of Khust (Transcarpathian region).

Another concession project in the port of Chernomorsk is already at the investor selection stage.

A concession is a form of public-private partnership in which the state transfers to a private investor the right to operate a state-owned facility for a certain period and under certain conditions. As a rule, the concessionaire assumes the risks and obligations to modernize the facility, while the state retains ownership rights.
