Ukrainian linguists call for the return of native words that were supplanted during the Soviet period to everyday use. Some of this vocabulary remained forgotten for decades, although it is natural for the Ukrainian language. Experts recall a number of words that were actively used in the Ukrainian language, but were subsequently supplanted as a result of the language policy of the Soviet regime. At that time, standardization took place, during which many native Ukrainian correspondences were replaced by more unified or borrowed words.

One of these words is " This is what was traditionally called for a crop grown in a garden or personal plot.. Subsequently, it was replaced by the word “vegetables”, although there were other variants in the Ukrainian language, in particular “yarina”.

Another word - " It means an open place, well lit by the sun.. Linguists note that this word has a strong emotional and figurative connotation and does not have an exact correspondence in the Russian language.

The word “robitnya” is also being brought back into use.. It denoted a room or space where things were made or repaired - from small workshops to production workshops. Partially this word has been preserved today, in particular in the names of individual Ukrainian brands.

The restoration of such words contributes not only to the enrichment of the modern Ukrainian language, but also to the return of cultural heritage, which for a long time they tried to displace or forget.

We also reported on the origin of surnames that go back to the times of the Cossacks and are reminiscent of warriors, hetmans and figures of the Zaporozhye Sich. Some of them remain common today, although their origins go back several centuries..
