Ukrainian music charts continue to surprise with the appearance of content of dubious origin and ambiguous content. An analysis of the top lists of YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music showed that among the most popular compositions were both songs created using artificial intelligence and Russian-language tracks. Analysis of YouTube music charts for the week from June 5 to June 12 and the current rating as of June 15 shows several noticeable trends..

The most noticeable trend is the rapid growth in popularity of music created using artificial intelligence.

Just a week ago, one of the main hits of Ukrainian YouTube was “Chervoniy Poppy” by Kolibri \u0026 Zlata Ko, which took second place with more than 1.6 million views in a week. The author of the music and lyrics was Alexander Plisakin (Kavabanga), the male part was recorded by Dmitry Lelyuk (Kolibri), and the female voice was created using artificial intelligence technologies. In particular, “Dance Fragolino” from Uran Yopa, another AI project with primitive text, was in ninth position in the weekly YouTube chart.

As of June 15, the situation has become more interesting. In the top ten most popular YouTube videos, several positions are occupied by AI compositions:.

In fact, AI has already ceased to be a musical experiment and a tool that popular Ukrainian artists rejected and criticized just six months ago, and has become a full-fledged participant in the Ukrainian music market.

Another debatable trend is the presence of Russian content in Ukrainian charts. In the YouTube rating for June 5–12, the song “Exhibit” by the Russian performer MIA BOYKA took fourth place. Her appearance in the Ukrainian top is especially controversial, given the political position of the artist. In March 2024, MIA BOYKA performed at a Kremlin rally and concert dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea and the next “victory” of dictator Vladimir Putin in the presidential elections in the Russian Federation.

The current YouTube chart also demonstrates the demand for Russian-language content. Second place there goes to the mashup “Hug, Kiss x Tuesday,” which combines Russian and Turkish tracks.

Another example is the already mentioned composition “Smoke” by voidchorus, which combines the Russian language and AI generation.

A similar situation is observed on other streaming services..

The song “Holy War” by Russian artist Ural Gaisin unexpectedly entered the top 10 on Spotify. A song with a rather provocative title, but containing references to suicide and having an ambiguous meaning, took ninth place among the most popular tracks on the service..

In Apple Music, the situation is even more revealing.

The third place on the Ukrainian chart is occupied by the composition “Sade” from India, Xcho and ILO. Particular attention is drawn to the participation of the ILO (Matvey Melnikov). The artist visited occupied Crimea over the years, ended up in the “Peacemaker” database, received a ban on entry into Ukraine and was included in the sanctions list. After the outbreak of a full-scale war, he did not condemn the Russian invasion and declared his confidence in the President of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the charts also show a positive trend.. In the YouTube tops today you can see Drevo, Alena Omargalieva, CHEEV, Jerry Heil, Kristonko and dozens of other performers who a few years ago were known only to a narrow circle of listeners.
