Music producer Dmitry Kolesnichenko, known as BADWOR7H, spoke about the rapid popularity of the Ukrainian artist Sugar (Oleg Shkarpeta) and explained what he sees as the main problem of his work. At the same time, the producer admitted that the artist’s success has a completely understandable basis. The main complaint of BADWOR7H, who previously collaborated with DOROFEEVA, TUCHA, renie cares, against Sugar is the same type of tracks. Producer in an interview with \! " " I saw a teaser for his tour - there is a megamix of choruses of his most famous tracks in one minute video. Everything is combined into one video, and one flows into the other.. You don’t even have a doubt: are you listening to different tracks now, or just one. They all sound like one. This is a problem for me,"
Another note was the same type of songs. Kolesnichenko noted that the approach to creating hits according to a certain pattern is normal for the music business, however, in his opinion, this should not be so obvious to the listener.
" You came up with the formula, you are now in your prime and you are doing stamping because this is business. I understand this thesis. Another thing is to do it in such elegant ways that at least people don’t get the idea that it was done according to the formula. They shouldn't have to guess about it. You can know and you can do it like a professional who does it consciously. But there is no need to " At the very least, we need to take care of the listener so that he does not have such thoughts,” noted the producer.
Separately, he focused on the sound of Sugar’s tracks, calling them outdated. According to BADWOR7H, the artist’s music is reminiscent of the style of the mid-2010s.
Moreover, it is precisely this factor, according to the producer, that could become the key to popularity. Kolesnichenko believes that Sugar successfully played on the nostalgia of the audience, which, in conditions of war and constant stress, is not always looking for new sounds.
“I can’t help but perceive this music as outdated, because it sounds like 2014 to me, but we are now in 2026. Some of this plays into his hands.? Probably the fact that people are tired now and therefore they are not really looking for new things.. And they have something familiar and nostalgic, and something they don’t really need to think about, to the box office. That's why it works. It's neither bad nor good. It's just a fact of life,"
