Cardiff City has recognized the damages in the court case against Nantes for compensation after the death of Emiliano Sali. France 24 reports this.

The French commercial court issued requests to the Welsh club in the amount of 122 million euros, which will be filed in 2023. Cardiff has recovered the financial costs associated with the tragic death of the Argentine striker.

In addition, the court ordered Cardiff to pay Nantes approximately 480 thousand euros as compensation for ship losses and moral harm. The club insisted that the organization of the private dance, which became a disaster, was part of the French side.

Cardiff lawyers said that the process was aimed at establishing the full truth in justice and honoring the memory of Sali, but they were disappointed with the court’s decisions. Nantes, in their turn, welcomed the verdict, confirming that the club was not responsible for the tragedy.

Emiliano Sala died on 21 June 2019, having died 28 years ago, since the flight went straight to Great Britain after crossing from Nantes to Cardiff, having recognized accidents over the English Channel. At the same time, the footballer and the pilot David Ibbotson died.

Earlier, the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that the transfer was completed at the time of the tragedy, and FIFA ordered Cardiff to pay the excess amount to the transfer, which amounted to over 11 million euros from the lost 17.
