Ukrainian figure skater set a record at the World Championships

Ukrainian figure skater Kirill Marsak, with a career record, made it into the free program of the World Championships, which is taking place these days in the capital of the Czech Republic.. The 21-year-old native of Kherson showed one of the best results in the short program and took 12th place among 36 participants.

At the 2026 World Championships, 36 skaters competed in men's single skating, and the best 24 in the short program advanced to the free program.. Ukraine was represented by Marsak.

For his performance in the short program, Marsac received 83.36 points, which was the second best result of his career. This indicator allowed him to qualify ahead of schedule for the free program and gain a foothold in 12th position after the completion of the performances of all participants.

Marsac previously competed at two world championships: in 2023 he took 35th place, and in 2025 - 33rd.

The tournament was the first for the skater after his debut Olympic Games, where he set a personal record in the short program - 86.89 points.

The men's free program will take place on Saturday, March 28, starting at 1:30 p.m.. The broadcast is planned on the Suspilne Sport platforms and regional channels.
