The Senegalese Football Federation has filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to decide that Morocco will win the 2025 African Cup of Nations. The Guardian reports this.

CAS confirmed that it rejected the appeal on 25 February. The Senegalese side wants to challenge the decision of the Confederation of African Football and return the national team title to Senegal, since they won the final based on the sporting principle.

The scandal arose after the final match of the tournament, in which Senegal beat Morocco with a score of 1:0. For example, Senegalese football players deprived the field of play as a sign of protest against the awarded penalty at the end of the hour. After the 17th half-time break, the match was rescheduled, but the penalty itself was not taken. Senegal scored a late goal in overtime.

However, after the appeal of the Moroccan side, CAF praised the decision to give Senegal a technical penalty, having learned that the team had actually lost the game. I will win 3:0 and it was awarded to Morocco.

In Senegal, the decision was sharply criticized, calling it unfair and such that it would disgrace the reputation of African football. Now the residual speck in this resonant conflict can be placed by CAS, the solution of which will be residual and binding until the end.
