The Ministry of Agriculture assessed the consequences of rising fuel prices for the sowing season in Ukraine and the final cost of products for consumers. As Taras Vysotsky said on air on “Suspilny”, the fuel component of the cost of agricultural products is only 10-15%, so agricultural products will rise in price by no more than 1-2%..

According to him, farmers are provided with fuel for the spring sowing, since they purchased it in advance, but field work is postponed due to freezing of the soil. In the southern regions - Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Nikolaev regions - sowing will begin traditionally earlier.

Vysotsky also estimated the losses of winter crops, which amounted to 3-5%, except for the Kirovograd region (30-40%), Vinnitsa (20-30%), Poltava, Cherkasy and Dnepropetrovsk (up to 20%). The Deputy Minister reassured that the indicators do not pose a threat to food security at the national level.

Earlier, fuel expert Dmitry Leushkin predicted that due to the rise in oil prices to more than $107 per barrel, the cost of gasoline could increase to 85 hryvnia per liter, and diesel - 90 hryvnia. On March 9, OKKO and WOG have already increased the retail price of gasoline and diesel fuel by 2 UAH/l.

Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada Daniil Getmantsev predicted that a fuel shortage may occur in April. At the same time, the government is preparing consumer support programs.
