For the first time in the history of the Ukrainian football championship, the referee publicly announced his decision after watching a video replay. This happened in the Premier League match “Metalist 1925” - “Alexandria”, where the chief referee Andrei Kovalenko changed the initial verdict after VAR intervention.

Initially, the referee awarded a penalty against Metalist 1925 for an episode involving Vashchenko and Salyuk. VAR assistants recommended reconsidering the moment, after which Kovalenko approached the monitor.

Based on the results of the review, the referee canceled the 11-meter penalty and showed Vladimir Salyuk a yellow card for simulation, announcing the decision through the stadium public address system.

The live commentator emphasized that the judge “saw a yellow card for Vladimir Salyuk for simulation and no foul,” emphasizing the historical nature of the moment: “The history of Ukrainian football is being written before our eyes.”.

The match ended with a minimal victory for Metalist 1925. The only goal in the 85th minute was scored from the penalty spot by Zabergji, taking advantage of a mistake by Beiratche, who made a scoring miss a minute after entering the field.
