During a closed meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said that Slovakia allegedly did not receive information from Ukraine about the damage to the Druzhba oil pipeline as a result of a strike by the Russian army. He added that the Ukrainian side “does not allow” Slovak specialists to visit the site of the attack in order to jointly understand the situation, the Suspilny correspondent reports..

Blanar explained that the approach of the Ukrainian side is incomprehensible to Slovakia. Kyiv allegedly does not communicate and does not provide the necessary information, although Slovak representatives asked permission to visit the damage site.

Slovakia has also asked EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen to send an inspection team to assess whether the damage is so severe that oil supplies cannot be restored..

The minister emphasized that Slovakia helps Ukraine in the energy sector and supports the civilian population. He added that about 15% of diesel fuel in Ukraine comes from the Slovak company Slovnaft. Also, according to him, the Slovak government supplies gas through reverse and provides emergency power supply.

" It is important for us to understand what lies ahead, so we need relevant information,” said Blanar.

As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga reported, it was not a surprise for Ukraine that Hungary planned to complain about problems with the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline, although the transit stopped due to Russia’s deliberate attack on Brody. Then he only advised Budapest to show photographs of the burning oil pipeline to its “friends” in Moscow.

It seems that the actions and statements of the governments of Hungary and Slovakia regarding Ukraine are no longer surprising, but official representatives of Budapest and Bratislava have exceeded expectations in recent days. Prime Ministers Viktor Orban and Robert Fico are not only demonstrating a “pragmatic” approach and collaborating with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, but are actually acting as his allies. Against the backdrop of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector, this tandem stopped supplies of diesel fuel to Ukraine and threatened to stop emergency supplies of electricity. From a moral point of view, such decisions are difficult to explain, given that Russia has been attacking our energy system all winter. How Orban is turning Ukraine into a convenient enemy?
