A young winch who suffered from frostbite was rescued in the Poltava region. The bird was found by an 80-year-old man in the city of Svetlovodsk, Kirovograd region, and handed it over to the veterinary clinic in Horishni Plavny. The swan is now under the supervision of doctors and is receiving the necessary medical care.. Suspilne reports this, citing the NGO "

According to the center's chief physician, Artur Shablyan, the man who found the bird temporarily kept it in the bathroom at home.. The winch had frostbitten legs and was very weak, but no serious damage was found.

After contacting the center on February 22, the bird was taken to the veterinary clinic for further treatment and preventive procedures..

" Her legs were frostbitten - the skin was peeling off on her paws. However, there is no significant damage,” said the chief veterinarian.

Now the bird has already begun to drink and eat on its own, and its condition is stable: it is active and sometimes aggressive, which indicates good vitality.

After completion of the quarantine, the winch will be transferred to the main flock of the center, which wintered on the territory of the institution. Together with the flock, they plan to return her to her natural environment around March 15. Let us remind you that in Kropyvnytskyi, a swan listed in the Red Book of Ukraine was rescued from an ice trap. The bird was frozen to the ice due to a broken wing and could not free itself.

Let us also remind you that on one of the banks of the Dnieper we spotted a rare bird for Ukrainian reservoirs - a male mandarin duck. A bright exotic bird was in a flock among other ducks.
