In Ukraine, on Sunday, February 8, cold temperatures are expected in almost all regions, including the southern regions. Forecasters predict cloudy weather, snow and difficult road conditions in most areas. Light snow will occur in the northern part and most central regions.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, weather conditions will be formed under the influence of cold air masses. The message indicates that dangerous meteorological phenomena, in particular sleet and fog, are possible in a significant part of the territory. Temperatures at night and during the day will fluctuate between 4–9 degrees below zero.
In the forecast, weather forecasters specified: “On February 8, icy conditions are expected on the roads, which could complicate traffic flow and the work of public utilities.”.
In the eastern, south-eastern regions, as well as in the Poltava and Transcarpathian regions, moderate snow and rain are forecast. Significant precipitation is not expected in most southern regions, but temperatures will drop.
Wet snow may accumulate in the Carpathians and the Carpathian region. In the eastern regions, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Poltava regions, weather forecasters warn of fog and ice, visibility in some places will drop to 200–500 meters. And the danger level is yellow.
Temperatures during the day in most parts of the country will range from 4 degrees below zero to 1 degree above zero.. During the day in Transcarpathia and the far south the air will warm up to 1–6 degrees Celsius. Wind north and northwest, 5–10 meters per second. Icy conditions are expected on the roads.
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region on February 8 it will also be cloudy and snowy. Light snow and slippery roads expected. Temperatures in the region at night and during the day will be 4–9 degrees below zero, in the capital – 4–6 degrees below zero.
Forecasters have issued a warning about dangerous weather phenomena. I level of danger, yellow. Weather conditions can complicate the operation of transport and the livelihoods of the population.
Separately, weather forecasters warned of a significant snow avalanche danger. On February 7 and 9, due to a thaw in the highlands of the Ivano-Frankivsk region and from February 7 to 9 in the highlands of the eastern part of Transcarpathia, the third level of danger is expected.
