FIFA announced that football clubs around the world have set a new record for the number of winter transfers in 2026. The number of international territories exceeded 5900, which is 3% more than the previous maximum.
Despite record market activity, foreign spending accumulated over 1.9 billion dollars, which is 18% less than in 2025, when 2.35 billion dollars were spent.
English clubs lost their leaders in spending amounting to 363 million dollars, although their spending has significantly decreased in line with the past fate. Italian teams settled in another place for 283 million dollars.
Brazilian clubs for the first time rose to the top three leaders in spending, having spent 180 million dollars, of which 49 million fell on the transfer of Lucas Paqueta from West Gema to Flamengo. Saudi clubs dropped from fourth to sixth place, having spent up to 101 million dollars.
In terms of transfer income, as a whole, the French clubs are in the lead with a total of 218 million dollars, ahead of the Italian, Brazilian, English and Spanish teams.
