Ukrainians are saving more and more on cars - the average age of a car on the market has grown to 16.4 years, and the cheapest and most worn-out segment has begun to dominate. Already in October, more than half a million old cars were re-registered, and the trend towards an aging fleet is only intensifying.

The Automotive Market Research Institute reports this.. In October 2025, the Ukrainian secondary car market demonstrated a trend that is only deepening from year to year, that cars are becoming older, and buyers are becoming more careful and economical.

The average age of cars resold domestically rose to 16.4 years, the highest since the beginning of the year.. For comparison, in September this figure was 16.0 years. It is noted that this growth indicates an active revival of the budget segment - Ukrainians are increasingly choosing the most affordable cars, often older than 15-20 years.

This behavior of buyers is directly related to the decline in purchasing power, high prices for new cars and the limited financial capabilities of most households. The difference between the regions is striking – Ukraine’s vehicle fleet remains extremely uneven.

The Donetsk region holds the anti-record – the average age of a car here is 19.4 years, almost two decades. In second place is Kherson (19.0 years).
