In Kyiv, at the Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora, a large-scale exhibition “The Universe of Yakov Gnezdovsky” opened, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian and American graphic artist. Yakov Gnezdovsky (1915-1985) became one of the most famous artists of the twentieth century, becoming famous for his unique ornamental works made of wood. Although he spent most of his life in the USA, his work occupies an honorable place in Ukrainian culture. A ZN photojournalist visited the exhibition. UA Vasily Artyushenko.
The exhibition became the final artistic project of the anniversary year and covers more than 90 works - woodcuts, linorites, etchings and paintings from the 1940s to the 1980s. Among the exhibits are works from the collections of the Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora, the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the NaUKMA Scientific Library, Shum Art Gallery and the cultural institution " Along with them are historical artifacts and modern objects created as a sign of respect for the artist.

The exhibition is divided into four sections - " They display early graphic works inspired by the work of Albrecht Durer, series with plant and animal motifs, as well as portraits of prominent figures and self-portraits of the artist himself.. Each room contains quotes from Gnezdovsky and archival photographs that convey the atmosphere of his life and work..
Special attention is paid to letters, invitations to exhibitions, postcards and publications designed by the artist from the collections of the NaUKMA museum and library. Visitors can also see a commemorative coin from the National Bank of Ukraine, issued for the 100th anniversary of the artist, and a coin from the series “Outstanding Personalities of Ukraine,” dedicated to the composer Dmitry Bortnyansky, whose portrait by Gnezdovsky recently joined the museum collection.
