Every year on November 4 we celebrate the Day of Railway Workers of Ukraine. This holiday is a professional holiday for all railway workers in our country.

In July 1993, President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk began celebrating Railway Worker's Day. This holiday was established in support of the initiative of Ukrainian railway workers. From then on it was celebrated on the first Sunday in August..

Later, the date for celebrating Railwayman's Day changed. Thus, in December 2002, by decree of President Leonid Kuchma, the celebration was postponed to November 4.

This date was chosen in memory of the events of November 4, 1861, when the first international train " At that time, Lviv was located on the territory of Austria-Hungary, but historically it is a Ukrainian city. Therefore, this day is considered the beginning of the modern history of railways in Ukraine.

During the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian railway workers conducted many evacuation flights, risking their lives. Over the past three months, the enemy has intensified attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia. Russia is already using drones to attack specific locomotives. Train schedules may change due to enemy shelling.
