In Ukraine, the program to support the poor has been expanded - basic social assistance will now be available to low-income families, single mothers, people with disabilities and those caring for the seriously ill. The amount of payments ranges from UAH 2,360 to UAH 5,700, depending on the composition of the family, and assistance can be obtained through CNAP, Diya or the social security department.
The Ministry of Social Policy reports this. From now on, not only those families who have already benefited from various types of social benefits will be able to apply for assistance, but also new families with low incomes.
Basic social assistance is a new format of state support that combines five types of social payments into one. It should provide a more systematic and fair approach to supporting low-income families.
Previously, different types of assistance were prescribed separately, which created confusion and delays. Now, instead of several types of payments, the family receives a single amount, calculated taking into account the family composition, income and social status of each member.
The first stage of the project started on July 1, 2025 and covered a limited number of recipients. Now the system is reaching a new level - as part of the second stage, all families who meet the program criteria can take advantage of it, even if they have not previously received any assistance.
The basic amount is UAH 4,500, and the final amount of assistance is determined as the difference between the family income and the sum of the basic values \u200b\u200bfor all family members. The calculation looks like this:.
For persons entitled to an old-age pension or who have reached 60 years of age without sufficient insurance coverage, assistance is determined in proportion to the number of years of service. Namely:.
If a family already receives one of these types of payments, in order to switch to basic assistance it is necessary to officially abandon the old one. Only one family member can submit documents - assistance is assigned to the whole family. The application must be submitted in two stages:.
Each adult family member must personally sign documents at the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. You can also apply for assistance in the Diya application, but so far only for certain categories of recipients:.
To submit online, you must have an ID card or international passport and a verified tax number (RNUKPN). The payment is assigned for 6 months, after which it is automatically extended for the duration of the pilot project - that is, up to two years.
