Former footballer of Vorskla, Kryvbas and Donetsk Metallurg Albert Kovalev highly praised the performance of Andrey Yarmolenko for Dynamo Kiev in the match against Shakhtar. In his opinion, the experienced attacker showed himself so confidently that he deserved a call to the national team.

An expert in an interview with Futbol24 noted that Yarmolenko has been playing as a center forward for the second match in a row and is confidently coping with the new task. According to Kovalov, although his speed has decreased a little with age, the football player still stands out for his understanding of the game and technique, offering interline solutions faster than others: he emphasized that Andrey “you can’t match technology and intelligence” and that he “took decisions for others.”.

Kovalov especially singled out Yarmolenko’s goal, noting his reading of the episode. As the former player noted, at the moment of scoring the goal, the forward demonstrated top-level thinking: according to the expert, even before receiving the ball, Yarmolenko already knew “where he would score.”.

Speaking about the prospects in the national team, Kovalov said that for this match the veteran “deserved a victory over Sergius Rebrov”. At the same time, he added that Yarmolenko himself is not yet thinking about the national team, focusing on the upcoming matches with Shakhtar, then Zrinski in the Conference League and LNZ. The expert also noted Dynamo’s intense calendar and emphasized that at the end of the meeting the Kievans looked fresher than their opponents.
