Law enforcement officers detained a Russian agent who planned to set fire to the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance in Kyiv. The SBU and the National Police reported this on Friday, October 24.
It is indicated that Russian intelligence services recruited a 20-year-old man through social networks. First, he set fire to a car that belonged to the Defense Forces in his native Vinnitsa.
" The next task was more difficult - to go to the capital and set fire to the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. To do this, the attacker rented housing for the day not far from the specified facility, inspected the scene of the future crime, and also selected escape routes,” the message says..
Law enforcement officers revealed hostile intentions in advance and thwarted them. The agent was detained in a hostel near the institute. A canister of gasoline, a mobile phone, a bank card and other material evidence were confiscated from him..
The detainee was informed of suspicion under two articles: high treason, deliberate destruction or damage to property (h. 2 tbsp. 111, h. 2 tbsp. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). For his crime, the traitor faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The agents acted separately from each other and “leaked” the geolocations of production workshops and information about the security of the facility to the occupiers.
