President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Shevchenko responded to rumors about the possible departure of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team Sergei Rebrov to the Greek “Panathinaikos”. In an interview with the publication “Champion”, Shevchenko emphasized that there was no talk about changing the coach and the team is completely focused on the qualifying cycle for the 2026 World Cup.

According to Shevchenko, information about Panathinaikos’ interest actually reached the federation, but the topic itself was not raised either in work or in personal conversations. The UAF President noted that Rebrov is motivated and continues to work with the national team with full dedication:.

" He has great motivation to work with the national team. He already partially answered this himself. We didn’t have any thoughts or conversations about this, because everyone is focused on the qualifying round,” Shevchenko said.

In addition, he commented on the bonus system for national team players. According to the UAF president, rewards are indeed provided for positive results in qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, but the details of these payments are regulated directly by the head coach:.

" We are discussing this with the head coach, and he is responsible for motivating the team,” added Shevchenko.

Previously, the media expressed confidence that Rebrov was determined to leave the Ukrainian national team and continue his career at Panathinaikos.. At the same time, UAF President Andrei Shevchenko does not intend to release the head coach now.
