Ukrainian presenter Konstantin Grubich recalled the moment when he learned about his son’s serious injury, which he received while defending his homeland in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, 28-year-old Yaroslav contacted his family a few hours after the terrible incident and said that he had lost his arm, while trying his best to reassure his family.
According to the journalist, at that difficult time his son accomplished a real feat, because he remained as balanced as possible and did not allow his loved ones to fall into hysterics. Konstantin Grubich spoke about this in an interview for the project “Komersant Ukrainian”.
" There was an " This is what I remember. This is the number two hole in my life that has begun.. How much from death is there? Where is the hand, and where is the head - two centimeters, and if something went wrong, it would be like with “Spectrum” (the call sign of Yaroslav Grubich’s brother-in-law, who died at the front. – Ed. But he reassured us,” the presenter shared.
As Konstantin Grubich admitted, he no longer remembers how he answered his son that day, but he can say for sure that he immediately began to think about a bunch of organizational issues. Despite the shock and personal pain, the presenter called work and said he would not be able to go on air, and then tried to contact the military trauma center that specializes in prosthetics, Superhumans.
" He replies: “Without initiative. I'll be evacuated from here, so I won't be here tomorrow.. No need to go" And in the morning I called the doctor, who said that they would not evacuate him anywhere, because he was very heavy.. He needs to stay here for a few days.. Well, in a word, we went there,” the journalist said.
It is still difficult for Konstantin Grubich to understand how his son remained so strong in this situation. According to the presenter, it was the calmness of Yaroslav Grubich that saved their family from a complete “apocalypse”. " This is the greatest feat. Either it was something mental or something. It's a miracle. The way he held up is a miracle. He saved my mother and I, and my sister, from an even greater apocalypse,” the journalist noted..
