The payment of compensation to Ukrainians who have lost housing, business or property due to Russian aggression will be carried out from a separate international fund. It will be filled with funds from frozen Russian assets and exports of Russian oil and gas.

This was announced after a meeting with the management of the register of losses of Ukraine by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. The real mechanism can be launched after the December meeting.

" Its filling can occur both due to frozen Russian assets, and part of the income from the export of Russian oil and gas, ”the head of government emphasized.

Sviridenko noted that the launch of the real mechanism of payments to the victims will become possible after the signing of the Convention on the creation of the International Commission for Considering Applications for Ukraine. This should happen during the December diplomatic conference in the Hague.

The register of losses is the first element of the international compensation mechanism created on the basis of the UN General Assembly resolution of November 14, 2022. Its launch took place during the Summit of the Council of Europe in Reykjavik in May 2023.

From April 2, 2024, the register officially began to accept applications from citizens of Ukraine injured from the war.
