Compensation can be received by defenders and defenders who have quit from service and are forced to rent housing, in the following cases:.

have their own housing, but it is damaged or destroyed as a result of hostilities, terrorist acts, sabotage caused by military aggression of the Russian Federation. Information about this should be entered in the appropriate state register;

Their housing located in the territories where fighting is carried out or in temporarily occupied territory;

undergo rehabilitation at a distance of more than 15 km from the place of residence.

Compensation can be issued by persons who have the status of a participant in hostilities (UBD) or the status of a person with disabilities as a result of the war.

“It also applies to those who were mobilized since February 24, 2022 and took a direct part in the measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine, was dismissed, but has not yet received the status of a participant in hostilities or persons with disabilities as a result of the war,” the report said in a statement.

What amount of compensation can be obtained.

Compensation for rental housing is assigned once from the date of circulation of the veteran for the duration of the rental contract, but not more than six months.

The amount of compensation is affected by the settlement in which the rented housing is located, and the cost of living:.

In the Dnieper, Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa - two living wages (in 2025 it is 6056 UAH);

In regional centers - one and a half living wage (in 2025 it is 4542 UAH);

In other settlements - one living wage (in 2025 it is 3028 UAH).

If housing is rented for less than a month, compensation will be paid in proportion to the number of days of residence.

How to issue compensation for housing rental.

To apply for compensation for housing rental, you need to submit an appropriate application through the structural unit responsible for the veteran policy, the local authority at the place of residence or through the center of the provision of administrative services - regardless of the place of residence.

It is also necessary to collect the following documents:.

identity document;

taxpayer card;

Information certificate from the State Register of Rights to Real Estate;

an act of examination of an object damaged by hostilities caused by aggression of the Russian Federation (if necessary);

a document proving the need for rehabilitation (if necessary);

Military accounting document;

Help on direct participation in the measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine (if there is no UBD status);

A certificate confirming the status of UBD or person with disabilities as a result of the war;

A certificate of absence (presence) of criminal records and other restrictions related to crimes against Ukraine;

Housing lease agreement concluded in accordance with the requirements of the Civil Code of Ukraine.
