In the Kyiv region, police officers and the SBU exposed a military man and four of his accomplices who were taking military “trophies” from the front. The attackers were detained while selling weapons to a “client”.

This was reported by the press services of the State Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the region and the police of the Kiev region. The suspects face up to seven years in prison.

“In the Kyiv region, a military man and four of his accomplices were exposed, who were taking military “trophies” from the front. The defendants were caught red-handed when they tried to clandestinely sell the RShG-2 rocket-propelled assault grenade and a batch of ammunition for heavy machine guns,” the Security Service said..

As the regional police added, law enforcement officers documented a number of facts of the sale of weapons and ammunition in the capital and the Kyiv region for a total amount of almost 800 thousand hryvnia.

Searches were carried out at the places of residence and work of the attackers, during which they found and seized $3,500, more than 900 cartridges of various calibers, four machine guns and a carbine, as well as separately more than 2,330 cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber, two smooth-bore guns, a device for firing rubber.

The detainees were informed of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons.
