Despite the war, Ukrainians continue to receive pensions and other social benefits. So, in March there was an indexation of pensions. In particular, this increase also affected first-category Chernobyl pensioners.. Facts ICTV told how much pension this category of pensioners can receive.

Who belongs to the first category of Chernobyl.

The first category includes persons with disabilities among the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and victims of the disaster, in respect of whom a causal relationship of disability with the Chernobyl disaster has been established, patients with radiation sickness due to the Chernobyl disaster.

Since March 1, the minimum amount of pension payment has increased in Ukraine. This is calculated taking into account the average salary (income) in Ukraine, from which insurance premiums are paid and which is taken into account for calculating the pension for the year preceding the year of recalculation of the monthly assistance to pension.

What is the amount of pension payments provided for Chernobyl victims of the first category.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine noted that in accordance with the law On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine On the Status and Social Protection of Citizens Affected by the Chernobyl Disaster, it is determined that the minimum pension payment for Chernobyl victims cannot be lower:.

for persons with disabilities of the 1st group - 100% of the average salary in Ukraine, from which insurance premiums are paid and is taken into account for calculating the pension for the previous year;

for persons with disabilities of the 2nd group - 80%;

for persons with disabilities of the 3rd group - 60%.

If the monthly pensions for the 1st category of Chernobyl victims do not reach such sizes, then the persons are paid monthly state targeted assistance to the pension in the missing amount.

So, from March 1, 2023, the minimum pension payment to Chernobyl victims of the 1st category cannot be lower than UAH 13,376.21 (until March 1, 2023 - UAH 12,993.56).
