Today, information appeared on the Internet about a hacker attack on the network infrastructure of the Ministry of Communities and Territory Development of Ukraine. In response to a request from our publication, the head of the department Alexander Kubrakov confirmed the fact of hacking.

According to the minister, hackers gained access to the local network of the Ministry as a result of the analysis of leaked technical information that appeared after one of the ministry’s web servers was hacked in January 2022..

“As our information security specialists told me, the hackers managed to guess the password and log in to the mailbox of one of the employees of the department.. As it turned out later, network administrators did not take care of deleting the passwords of fired employees.. Unfortunately, the CERT-UA, FireEye and Falcon CrowdStrike protection systems used by our specialists did not help protect the infrastructure from complete destruction,” said Alexander Kubrakov.

Responsibility for the attack on the network infrastructure of the Ministry of Communities and Territory Development of Ukraine was taken by the hackers of the Sun project.
