The pension provision of military personnel is regulated by a law adopted in 1992, writes " It establishes special conditions for calculating the size of pensions, as well as requirements for seniority and retirement age.. For 30 years, the law has been changed several times, as a result, benefits have been extended not only to military personnel, but also to law enforcement officers:.
National Anti-Corruption Bureau;
Court Security Service;
Department of State Protection;
State Service for Special Communications and Protection;
Security Service of Ukraine;
State Inspectorate for Technogenic Safety;
State Border Service;
State Emergency Service;
State Penitentiary Service;
Tax police;
Bureau of Economic Preservation.
According to the law, military personnel can receive pensions in three cases:.
for years of service (similar to retirement pension);
in case of disability;
in case of death (close relatives will receive a pension).
In addition to regular pension payments, the military and their relatives can also receive lump sum payments.. These payments are usually subject to other laws and government regulations..
The amount of military pensions is calculated as a percentage of the monetary allowance (rate and allowances) that they received at the time they became eligible for a pension.. The government limits the amount of certain types of military pensions. However, there is a general rule: the maximum amount of payments cannot exceed ten living wages for disabled persons.. In 2023, this is 20930 UAH per month.
Service pension for military personnel.
Military personnel or employees of law enforcement agencies can receive a pension for years of service. If they have 25 years of service or more (regardless of age), then they can receive a pension in the amount of 65% of their monetary allowance (50% for 20 years of service plus 3% for each subsequent year).
If they are over 45 years old and have 25 years of insurance experience, of which at least half is military service or service in law enforcement agencies, they will receive 50% of the allowance plus 1% for each additional year over 25 years of service.
The minimum pension for long service cannot be less than the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work (UAH 2,093), and the maximum is 70% of the monetary allowance. An exception was made for the military involved in the liquidation of the Chernobyl disaster: up to 100%.
Participation in hostilities in wartime is counted as seniority under a preferential scheme: one month of service is calculated as three months of service. Such servicemen will be able to retire earlier.
In addition to regular payments, the military can also receive a one-time. Its size depends on the length of service: 50% of the monthly allowance for each year of service. For example, when you retire after 25 years of service, you can receive a lump sum of 12.5 monthly salaries..
The right to a lump sum payment are and are mobilized after dismissal. They will receive 4% of the allowance for each month of service, but not less than 25% of the monthly allowance.
Most seniority pension benefits apply only to regular military or law enforcement officers.. Mobilized have far fewer advantages.
One of these is the right of combatants (regardless of whether they are military or not) to early retirement: men - at 55 years old, women - at 50 years old.

Military Survivor's Pension.
It is received by close relatives of a serviceman who died or went missing during the hostilities.. In particular, minor children, disabled parents, wife or husband are entitled to these pensions..
The size of the survivor's pension depends on the causes of death and the number of minor children..
Adult dependents of those military who died during the war, the state pays 70% of their monetary allowance. The same amount is paid for a minor child, but if there are two or more children, then the amount of the pension for each of them will be 50% of the monetary allowance. So, for a military family, consisting of a wife, mother and two minor children, the state will pay 240% of the monetary allowance (70% for the wife and mother and 50% for each child).
If the soldier died not as a result of hostilities, the state pays 30% of his monetary allowance for each close relative for whom the income of such a soldier was the main source of livelihood.
The minimum size of the survivor's pension is 2 subsistence minimums for persons who have lost their ability to work - 4186 UAH per month.
In addition to the survivor's pension, relatives of the military and mobilized who died during the war receive UAH 15 million in one-time assistance.. This amount is distributed in equal parts among the close relatives of the deceased.. Relatives of a military man living in Russia or Belarus cannot apply for these funds..
