The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has decided to extend the suspension of teams and clubs from Russia and Belarus for the 2023/24 season.

This was reported by the press service of the organization.

"

The IIHF Council, after careful analysis, has concluded that it would not be a safe move to bring teams from Russia and Belarus back to the competition now and in the upcoming 2023/24 season,"

The national teams of both countries will miss the Ice Hockey World Championship, which will be held from April 23 to May 5..

Recall that on February 28 last year, the IIHF Council suspended all clubs and teams from Russia and Belarus in connection with the start of a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.
