During Great Lent, believers must observe not only food restrictions, but also spiritual cleansing. In particular, pray more often and visit temples. The representative of the press service of the OCU, Archpriest Mikhail Omelyan, told the UP. Life”, is it necessary for women to wear a headscarf in church.
He noted that every person who comes to the Lord is important for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
“It is worth noting that a scarf on a woman’s head is not the main sign of a person’s piety.. Therefore, we should not meet a person by appearance, scold or condemn for it, especially if a person is in the temple for the first time.. It should be accepted with attention and Christian love.. For it is not important whether a woman goes to church with or without a headscarf, but what is important is with what intentions, thoughts and mood,” said the archpriest.

According to him, if you look into the soul of a person, at his heart and at the challenge with which he came to the temple, then there will be no time to look at the clothes in which the person came.
The OCU emphasized that if a woman did not plan to visit the temple in advance and did not take a headscarf with her, but wants to come in to pray, then there is no need to refuse this because of the lack of a headscarf.
The church has a negative attitude towards the persecution of women for uncovered heads in the temple.

“The temple is a space for the manifestation of Christian love, and not for bullying. The reason for this kind of persecution is supposedly “omniscience” of how to behave in church, but in reality it is pride and lack of theological education.. So, remember the instructions of the Savior: “And as you want people to do to you, so you do to them” (Luke. 6: 31),” summed up the representative of the press service of the OCU.
Earlier we wrote that the UGCC published a list of holidays in the new style from September. The church year will begin on September 1 and all holidays will be shifted by two weeks.
