The United States will work to improve the combat capability and professionalism of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And it will be active in winter. This was stated during a briefing by Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Laura Cooper in an interview with Voice of America, referring not only to the provision of weapons and equipment, but to the intensification of training.
“Winter will be very dynamic. Some people think it will be time to rest and refit, but we don't see any sign that the Ukrainians will stop and we certainly expect the Russians to try to move forward,"
She noted that “today it’s a completely different game” in terms of the skills of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, compared to when the US first began training Ukrainian forces after Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014..
