According to the BBC, 200 of 211 FIFA members took part in voting. 134 votes received a North American application, 65 votes were given to Morocco, and the delegation of Togo abstained.

For the first time in history, the final tournament of the World Cup will be held in three countries at once. Previously, the maximum number was two countries: in 2002, the finals of the World Cup were held by Japan and South Korea.
