Experts from the University of Madrid came to the conclusion that olive oil makes a person's bones much stronger. Scientists for two years watched the subjects.
People who consume olive oil in large quantities have an increased level of osteocalcin protein. It serves as the basis of a strong bone mass.
But the lack of osteocalcin leads to the fragility of bones, so a person may have an increased tendency to fracture. Osteocalcin is derived from cells that participate in the formation of bones, and, according to one version, prevents the development of insulin resistance, which helps the body develop immunity to this hormone.
In other words, insulin resistance contributes to the weakening and fragility of bones. There is another theory of the positive effect of olive oil on human bones. It was put forward by specialists from the University of Athens. The Greeks believe that the diet, which includes daily consumption of olive oil, strengthens bones due to the large number of antioxidants.
Scientists stressed that such a diet is primarily useful for female bones.
