Scientists from the University of California have developed what they themselves called "4D-glasses". The developers claim that their device will allow the films to literally touch the viewer while watching, according to Science Daily. Points begin to "touch" a person to increase the effect of the video being watched. Scientists say that this creates additional sensations, for example, when an object appears on the screen that is approaching the viewer. The creation of glasses is the result of the work of neurobiologists who are studying the areas of the brain responsible for the sight and reaction to touch. The work of this 4D-technology is a kind of deception of these areas. Points only create a sense of touch. Their main goal is to help researchers study the mechanisms of the brain regions. But they already admit that such glasses can become more popular and practically applicable in the visual entertainment industry - in computer games, movies, VR-content. The device can provide stimulation of several senses, and the creators believe that this is an important step for virtual entertainment. The effect that the object is coming to the person's face is created by small air flow generators built into the glasses. But the difficulty for scientists was to understand at which point in time they were to be launched. The brain is difficult to deceive and when the air stream is activated at the same moment as the object appears, the desired sensation does not appear. Scientists have studied for a long time, at what delay between the appearance of the object on the screen and the appearance of air streams creates the most realistic effect of presence. It turned out that the ideal effect is in the interval of 800 and 1000 ms. These data were confirmed in the tests of subjects with fMRI.
