The analytical company Digitimes Research expects the growth of the world server market in the current and next years and associate positive dynamics with the high demand for IT equipment for data centers and strong sales in China.

According to the forecast of Digitimes Research, in 2017 manufacturers will release a total of 12.65 million servers, which is 7.1% more than a year ago. In 2018, the supply will increase even more - by 8.5%.

According to experts, the server market is growing in volume due to the growing demand for technology from data center operators. In addition, the high growth rate of the Chinese server market.

Most of the servers are collected by Taiwanese manufacturers and ODM companies. In 2017, they will total 11.6 million servers, which is 15.8% more than in 2016. In 2018, they will increase output by another 10%. The main Taiwanese server manufacturers Digitimes Research experts call Inventec and Wistron. It is expected that this year they will prepare for sale 2.6 million servers, and next year - 3 million.

Analysts expect an increase in the share of Taiwanese manufacturers due to the growth in orders for the supply of equipment for data centers and lower shipments for leading brands such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Dell EMC.

ODM-manufacturers of servers, among which leaders are Taiwanese Quanta and Wistron, sell equipment by order of data centers. The main advantages of such solutions are low cost in comparison with brand products and use only those components that the customer needs.

The analytical company DRAMeXchange expects that server shipments in 2017 as a whole will be 4% higher than in 2016. Most of the shipments - about 60% - will be occupied by corporate equipment, and the share of solutions for data centers will account for about 30% of the annual indicator.

According to Gartner, in the second quarter of 2017, server sales globally amounted to $ 13.9 billion, which is 2.8% more than a year ago. Quantitative shipments of these products rose by 2.4%, to almost 2.8 million units.

The HPE retains the first place in the server industry, its share in April-June was 23% compared to 26.1% a year earlier (in units). At the Dell EMC following, on the contrary, it increased in a year - from 19.1% to 19.9%.
